Chemical Engineering / Chemistry Graduate

The Market leader in our field, we are a successful £200 million turnover business built around a significant technical manufacturing base. With a continuing track record of year on year investment, business performance has become dependent on the fusion of commercial awareness with technical process refinement. Our technical team therefore play an increasingly key role in our ongoing success and with this in mind we are keen to be proactive in succession planning for the future.

GRADUATE CHEMIST / CHEMICAL ENGINEER

£ Attractive Salary

This is an excellent medium to long term opportunity, where it is envisaged that through a mix of first class coaching and exposure to a wide range of technical issues and projects, the successful candidate will gradually acquire the key skills and knowledge to take on a senior role within the business.

Reporting to our Technical Manager this role will not suit an ‘academic’ person who wishes to be confined to the laboratory. Instead, we seek a pragmatic chemist, willing to develop real awareness of commercial aspects of the business and add value to our operations. Your challenge will be to broaden your knowledge base and get involved with key technical aspects of raw materials and finished products, product development, process optimisation, cost reduction and technical troubleshooting, all within the umbrella of our wider environmental & quality systems and marketplace requirements.

The successful candidate is likely to have graduated within the last three years with a good degree in chemical engineering / chemistry (or closely related subject), and will probably already have used the period since graduation to gain an insight into areas such as quality, environmental systems, product development and process optimisation within a technical manufacturing environment. You must be highly analytical and creative, able to develop workable solutions within complex commercial situations, yet a strong communicator who is comfortable dealing with a range of people. A certain robustness of character is also required if you ar to thrive within our demanding work environment.

Our culture is one of high reward for performance excellence and demands a great deal of commitment, energy and flexibility, underpinned by talent, confidence and a proactive approach. If you possess all this, and can over time prove your ability to consistently deliver within our business, then career prospects with us – all the way up to senior manager level and beyond – are excellent.
