Kronospan has been leading the way to environmental sustainability with low emission products since 1985, when we produced the world's first Chipboard of E-1 quality. In 2008 we went even further with the first E-LE quality Chipboard and Medium Density Fibreboard that far exceeds international legal standards.
All products manufactured at Chirk are FSC certified. That is, virgin material traceable to a sustainably managed UK forest. Certain products are also PEFC certified. Kronospan is committed to maintaining both of these standards. We also recycle 300,000 tonnes of waste wood which is diverted from landfill, this alone reduces CO² emissions by 450,000 tonnes per year.
As a result of our recycling our chipboard has been awarded Carbon Positive status by the Blue Green Carbon Company, as an industry 1st its something we’re very proud of.
